CouponGuard Privacy Policy
Who we are
CouponGuard is developed by James Agustin Gil Narro, doing business as ARCETRI ("ARCETRI", "we", "us"). Contact: support@arcetri.app.
What CouponGuard does
CouponGuard is a Shopify app that lets a merchant restrict a discount code so it only works for shoppers who arrive through a specific, merchant-generated link (a "protected campaign link" — typically shared with a creator, influencer, or affiliate). Shoppers who use the same code without going through that link do not receive the discount.
Data we collect from your store
When you install CouponGuard, we access and store the following, and nothing else:
- Your store's domain (e.g.
yourstore.myshopify.com). - An OAuth access token and refresh token, issued by Shopify, that let CouponGuard call Shopify's Admin API on your behalf (to create protected discounts and register the app's operational webhooks). These are never visible to anyone outside CouponGuard's servers.
- A Shopify Storefront API token, provisioned automatically at install, used only to authorize shopping carts that arrive through a protected link.
- The discount codes you choose to protect, and a randomly generated security value CouponGuard creates for each one (used internally to check cart authorization — it is never shown to you, your shoppers, or anyone else).
- The campaigns you create (names and labels you type in, e.g. a creator's name) and the links CouponGuard generates for them.
- Basic usage counters for your own dashboard (e.g. how many protected links were clicked).
Data we do NOT collect
CouponGuard does not collect, store, or process any personal information about your shoppers. We do not see or store shopper names, email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, browsing behavior, or order history. CouponGuard's authorization mechanism works entirely by tagging a shopping cart, not by identifying a person — a protected link authorizes whichever cart requests it, without knowing or needing to know who is behind that cart.
Because we hold no shopper personal data, there is no shopper data to export or delete under GDPR/CCPA-style requests — see "Your rights" below.
How we use your store's data
Solely to operate the product: creating and managing the discounts you protect, generating and verifying campaign links, authorizing shopper carts, and running your subscription billing through Shopify's Billing API. We do not sell your data, share it with third parties for marketing, or use it to train any model.
Data retention and deletion
Your store's data (as listed above) is retained for as long as
CouponGuard is installed on your store. When you uninstall CouponGuard,
Shopify notifies us via its mandatory shop/redact compliance
webhook — sent automatically by Shopify approximately 48 hours after
uninstall — and on receiving it we permanently delete all of your store's
data, including access tokens, protected discount records, and
campaigns.
Your rights
Because CouponGuard stores no personal data about shoppers, there is no shopper-level data subject request to fulfill. If you are the merchant and want your own store's data deleted immediately rather than waiting for the uninstall-triggered process above, contact us at support@arcetri.app and we will remove it as soon as reasonably possible.
Known limitation, disclosed plainly
Once a shopper's cart is authorized through a protected link, they are redirected to a real Shopify checkout URL with the discount applied. Like any checkout link on any e-commerce platform, that specific URL can be forwarded by the shopper who received it. CouponGuard's guarantee is that the underlying discount code itself does not work outside of an authorized protected link — it does not, and cannot, prevent a shopper from sharing a checkout URL they were already given.
